Week 2 Hitchcock The 39 Steps

In this film by Hitchcock, I found interesting that it would be a film within a film type of movie, when really it is just a theater. At the beginning 1:48 a man buys a ticket into the theater or some sort where he will be taking a seat. This also lets me believe that The 39 Steps would be scene or announced throughout the film in the movie keeps rolling, we just have to pay attention to the story to catch it. This film is also great to watch because there is audio making it a lot easier to understand and follow the plot. Mr. Memory is a fascinating character with his memory facts and such, the scene is somewhat a "show and tell". In the beginning of the film in the first few minutes before Mr. Memory was announced to the audience, there are many different camera angles capturing the audience only, the stage and the distance from the stage is. We can also see the point of view angles overlooking the audience from the announcers view. In 8:02 the showing of the room uses a lot of angles and emphasizes the objects taking up the space in the room, good use of space. This plot is strange, she is a mysterious woman (Smith) who is chased by gun man out of the theater and is a spy, does not mention which country she is from and refuses to answer the phone. She is very suspicious. In 13:08-14:00 the phrase "39 Steps" is mentioned, might be found in Scotland.
It seems as though the story line is a spy is trying to prevent a national secret from being released, people are trying to kill her and when she dies, the stranger she meets that is welcoming to her and she tells him the truth as to who she is; he then assumes the role of the spy and finishing the mission and he knows who he has to avoid or who he needs to look for a man with missing part of his pinky. Here we see the plot, we know the protagonists and antagonists. 23:43 is a great example of a following shot since it is following the movement of the train. Mr. Hammond is being chased for something he did not do, the police are after him because he is the tenant missing after a Ms. Smith died in his apartment with a knife in her back, he did not do it but since he is running, it makes him look guilty. Hitchcock's film demonstrates that the woman dies again, never a male. In scene 41:05 Mr Hammond gets to chat with the man who Ms Smith was looking for in Scotland, but he is the man who Annabella was looking for. He shows his missing part of his pinky. Mr Haney is really Mr Hammond and he faked his death and since he was wearing the coat Marguerette gave him when he made his escape from the police he implicated the man, when the man found our Marguerette gave his coat away there is a smack noise and I can imagine that he hurt Marguerette for what she did. The police did not believe Haney's story that the professor is evil, justice turned their backs on the innocent man and supported the criminal. I really enjoyed the ending, it took place where it started, at the theater and Mr. Hamey gets to prove he is innocent and the 39 steps is made clear.
