Rope

Rope:
The literary aspect of Hitchcock’s films is extremely pronounced in the film Rope. Although the film was shot in its entirety in a room, the conversation, characters, and camera techniques kept the film as suspenseful as any other Hitchcock film.
One particular scene starting around the 50 minute mark was highly suspenseful. The camera was positioned just behind the cabinet where the body was stored and the camera was focused so the viewer could see into the other room. This allowed the audience to view what the maid was doing as she potentially could have exposed the whole crime.
Along with camera techniques, Hitchcock’s development of the characters went a long way in providing and creating suspense. The character Rupert with his excellent deduction skills was an integral part of the whole movie.
All in all, the experiment by Alfred Hitchcock in my opinion was a success as he was able to incorporate dialogue in a way that led the viewer to continue to watch in anticipation.
