Shadow of a Doubt Week 3 Post

Right away in part (1/11) in the opening scene of the film the camera only zooms in on the money on the floor, this tells us that the money is a main object and is important in the film and to the films protagonist. We can assume that the men the lady mentions is after the money. In 5:08 Spencer's face is shot with a close-up as he is walking towards the men looking for him, we can also infer that this is an important scene in the story. So far Spencer is Charlie who is visiting his sister's house who he has a niece named after him, his sister is having money troubles since she is rarely home and always working to provide for her family. The money is definitely important. In the second part of the film (2/11) at 7:40 is an example of a following shot because as Charlie and his nephews are walking towards the house, the camera is following their movement. In part (3/11) of the film, in 2:50-3:40 when Charlie and his niece Charlie are in the kitchen talking, it seems as though they have a strong connection, that goes beyond uncle and niece as Charlie mentioned herself. Charlie is a thief, he stole a ring and gave it to his niece as a present without knowing it was engraved and tried to cover it up by saying the jeweler ripped him off. Joe and his friend Herb always discuss about possible ways to kill each other.
In part (4/11) at :18 Charlie reads something in the paper and decides to play a game with Anne by making the newspaper into a house, ripping it up and then putting the paper behind his back to hide it. Charlie is definitely suspicious and hiding from something but his niece Charlie gives him the benefit of the doubt, except in scene 1:15 where she insists she knows that there is something her uncle is hiding and shows him the newspaper he tore up that she taped back together, he immediately stands up rushes to her and grabs her by the wrist, hurting her. The camera follows his rushing to her and also shows a close-up of him and his niece talking at 1:23 and he is telling her lies so she won't figure what he is hiding. In 4:00-6:00 when his sister tells him two men want to interview and take pictures of the family, the camera focuses on Charlie's facial expression because he is asking so many questions about the men, refuses to do interview and take a picture, he has never been photographed, he must live a double life if he doesn't like being photographed and there are very little pictures of him. In part (5/11) at 7:23 Charlie's face is very suspicious of her uncle Charlie because he asks the men for the entire film because they took a picture of him in the hallway. At this point, we can make the assumption that Charlie is hiding something, those men know something and Charlie is trying to doubt that her uncle is hiding anything from her but his actions are telling her otherwise.
In part (6/11) in :23 seconds the detective tells Charlie that he is looking for a man, they believe it is his uncle Charlie and Charlie is devastated and mad that he is assuming it is her uncle that they want, she is in denial. She is worried and scared, just by looking at her face and she knows it will break her mother's heart if the detectives prove it is her uncle after all. In 8:09 we find out the missing part of the newspaper that Charlie was hiding, this scene is crucial because the camera zooms in and emphasizes the ring on Charlie's finger that he uncle gave her and it contained the initials of the latest murder victim. Crucial point in the plot. The ending was a interesting.
